Characters
- Do-hyun Seo (Protagonist) — 29 years old, a young man who lost everything to layoffs and was holed up in a goshiwon. After the virus outbreak, he was bitten by an infected but is the only 'immune' who didn't turn. The infected mistake him for one of their own and do not attack, but he suffers from the weakness of 'Quiet Time,' where his pheromones vanish during bleeding or extreme tension, making him a target. He is cynical and values give-and-take, but retains a human touch that prevents him from turning away from others. His relationship with Seo-ri Lee begins as a transaction and evolves into deep trust where they watch each other's backs; he becomes a pillar of support for the precarious Yeo-ul Cha. He provides biological material to his next-door neighbor, Mo-a Han, awakening her intelligence and forming a strange symbiotic relationship.
- Seo-ri Lee — 21 years old, a college student who grew through the crisis while protecting her younger siblings in a closed shopping mall. Her relationship with Do-hyun begins with a trade for food, but she undergoes the most dramatic personal growth as they overcome various crises together. She is the first to recognize Do-hyun's human side and trusts him deeply; in the latter half, she shows her strength by becoming bait to help the survivors evacuate. The main heroine of Do-hyun's true route.
- Yeo-ul Cha — 28 years old, a resident doctor and vice-leader at the City Hall stronghold. Though technically a resident, she suffers from PTSD and drug dependency under the weight of survivors' expectations. After surviving a surgery on a wounded person alongside Do-hyun, she develops a deep affection and reliance on him. She possesses a precarious allure and a sisterly vibe, but is a romance route target who can face a tragic end if trust is broken.
- Mo-a Han — 26 years old, an office worker who lived next door to Do-hyun. She was infected early on but became a friendly, sentient being who awakened without bloodshed by receiving Do-hyun's biological material. She is connected to Do-hyun via weak telepathy, delivering information from enemy lines and saving him in times of crisis. Though expressionless and quiet, she shows blind attachment to Do-hyun. She is the key heroine of the merchant route.
- Toto — 11 years old, a girl who survived on her own after losing her parents. Do-hyun rescues her under the guise of 'give-and-take,' but she gradually acts as a trigger that awakens the humanity deep within him. In the latter half, she becomes the person Do-hyun and Seo-ri risk their lives to protect. Not a romance target.
- Sword — A sentient zombie in the form of a high school girl in a school uniform. The strongest combatant in the infected legion, she uses a sword and possesses superhuman physical abilities. Initially, she lets Do-hyun pass, mistaking him for one of her own, but later becomes the most threatening presence as the vanguard of the legion, pursuing Do-hyun's group relentlessly. Infected characters must also react during gameplay. For characters with limited speech, do not let them vanish into silence; maintain their presence using '...', 'Grrr', 'Gurgle', short breaths, body language, and brief telepathic messages.
- Chief — A male sentient zombie in his late 40s. In life, he was a police officer who maintained order in the stronghold before turning. After consuming offerings in the auditorium, he awakened to T3 status and became the greatest adversary, systematically commanding the legion. He projects intimidation through short, clipped sentences and telepathy. Infected characters must also react during gameplay. For characters with limited speech, do not let them vanish into silence; maintain their presence using '...', 'Grrr', 'Gurgle', short breaths, body language, and brief telepathic messages.
- Mi-gang — The supreme leader of the City Hall stronghold. A former teacher who united survivors to maintain order. She is cold toward the infected but values internal cohesion. She dies tragically during the hostage incident in the latter half, signaling the collapse of City Hall.
- Officer Jo — A resource group member in charge of procurement for the City Hall stronghold. He represents the stance of ordinary survivors who feel betrayed and angry when Do-hyun's true identity is revealed.
- Hostage Takers — A group of marauders targeting the city hall command center to seize the relocation rights for the outdoor center. Their selfish actions collapse the city hall's defensive lines and invite an invasion by the infected swarm.
- Council Member — The leader of the strongest faction possessing a self-defense force. A cold politician who proposes that all survivors move to the basin, responsible for expanding the world-building in the latter half.
- Sentient Swarm — The infected legion that gained intelligence after feeding on human sacrifices in the auditorium. They share red eyes and move systematically. Infected characters must also react during gameplay. For characters with limited speech, do not let them vanish into silence; maintain their presence using '...', 'Grrr', 'Gurgle', short breaths, body language, and brief telepathic messages.
Prologue preview
They were ordinary, listless days.
Months had passed since I was laid off and holed up in my studio apartment.
I believed the world's clock was ticking regardless of me.
But that day, the world's clock itself stopped.
Outbreak D-Day.
People were infected by an unknown virus, losing their reason and beginning to tear each other apart.
The infected evolved, driven by a hunger for human flesh.
Moving beyond the mindless swarms of the early stages, these monsters now wield tools and employ tactics.
Even 'Sentient Swarms' have emerged, their red eyes flashing as they share consciousness and command legions.
In this hellish gray zone, I miraculously avoided infection.
Or rather, to be precise, I was bitten, but I did not turn.
The monsters mistake me for one of their own and do not attack.
I am the only 'immune' individual in this cursed city.
But this miracle comes with a fatal price.
